Tourism Ministry has said that since the reopening of the Maldivian borders on 15 July 2020, the country now has over 33,700 tourist beds are currently in operation.
Most recent statistics from the Ministry on the industry show 349 tourist facilities in operation that includes 125 resorts. 189 hotels and guesthouses and 122 safaris that accommodates 33.776 yachts.
The Tourism Ministry said that five more tourist resorts will become operational this year which would bring another 914 beds would be operational.
Statistics from the Tourism Ministry show that October has highest number of tourists arrival since the border reopened with 21,515 tourists visiting the country with an average of 694 tourists visiting the country.
Since the borders reopened, the highest number of tourists have visited from Russia with 12,961 tourists followed by India with 5,449 tourists and the UK with 4,745 tourists.
And since the reopening, 16 airlines have resumed flights to the Maldives including, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Ithihad Airways and Aeroflot. The Tourism Ministry said that another nine airlines would be resuming flights to the country before the end of the year.
