National airline, Maldivian, has begun sale of cheaper fare tickets today. The sale began after the airline cut cost of domestic travel within Maldives.

Recently appointed Communications Manager of Maldivian, Moosa Waseem, spoke at a press conference held by Island Aviation services today stating that the prices of domestic airfare has been lowered since 2 January 2019 and that the sale of these tickets began today.

Waseem said that high priority was given to areas frequently traveled when cutting the cost of airfare and noted that the previous highest fares are no longer available.

The prices of domestic travel are as follows:

  • Male' - Hanimaadhoo - Male' : 1610 MVR to 2226 MVR
  • Male' - Ifuru - Male' : 1500 MVR to 2056 MVR
  • Male' - Dharavandhoo - Male' : 1098 MVR to 1562 MVR
  • Male' - Kudahuvadhoo - Male' : 1500 MVR to 2056 MVR
  • Male' - Thimarafushi - Male' : 1610 MVR to 2226 MVR
  • Male' - Kadhdhoo - Male' : 1610 MVR to 2226 MVR
  • Male' - Kooddoo - Male' : 1652 MVR to 2442 MVR
  • Male' - Kaadedhoo - Male' : 1652 MVR to 2442 MVR
  • Male' - Fuvamulah - Male' : 1698 MVR to 2598 MVR
  • Male' - Gan - Male': 1698 MVR to 2598 MVR

The lowering of airfare has been undertaken as part of President Ibrahim Solih's first 100 - day pledges.
