A special workshop on investigative journalism targeting Maldivian journalists has begun organized by the Center for Investigative Reporting in Sri Lanka.
The workshop taking place via Zoom began with over 25 participants including reporters from TV stations and other media platforms.
The five-day workshop is being conducted in partnership with the Addu Women’s Association (AWA).
The Canadian Ambassador for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, David Mckinnon and the former Health Minister, Dr. Mariyam Shakeela took part in the opening ceremony of the workshop.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Shakeela said that investigative journalism is very important to the Maldives and the workshop will provide a lot of information on the matter to Maldivian journalists.
The trainer on the Workshop is the Chief Editor of the Nepal Investigative Multimedia Journalism Network (NIMJN), Rajneesh Bhandari.
Today’s session of the workshop highlighted on fact checking and IJ storytelling. The workshop is set to cover guidelines, techniques and other journalism related skills.
