Newly developed mosques have been opened in Shaviyani Atoll Funadhoo and Noonu Atoll Magoodhoo.

The two mosques were opened yesterday by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali.

The mosque in Funadhoo was developed with MVR 4.5 million from the state budget through Haiman Construction Private Limited as the contractor. The work on the mosque began on 17 November 2019 and was completed on 30 September this year.

The mosque named Masjid al-Rishwan has a capacity of 500 people.

Meanwhile the new mosque in Magoodhoo named Masjid al-Isra has a capacity of 300 people and was developed with MVR 4.1 million from the state budget through with same contractor. The project began on 9 January 2020 and was completed on 30 September 2020.
