100 containers of cargo has been brought back to Maldives. A cargo ship 'City of Shanghai' had left the port in Male' without disembarking the cargo last Thursday.
It was reported that the cargo ship carrying a 100 containers left Male' port due to several days' delay in disembarking cargo.
The ship belonging to CMA CGM Group had docked at a port in Sri Lanka after leaving Maldives. The 100 containers containing cargo fro various local businesses was returned to Maldives aboard a different vessel yesterday evening.
Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) reports that there are currently two vessels in the queue to disembark and that it will take approximately 10 days to completely unload the vessels.
While the 'City of Shanghai' cargo ship reports that they had to leave due to several days' delay in disembarking, MPL had said that the ship had departed a day before the assigned date of disembarkation. MPL has further said that the corporation was given no explanation by the ship, prior to leaving Maldives.
