Male’ City Council has said that the park on the eastern side of Male’ City will be opening on 11 November 2020.

Talking on CNM’s “Iskan” program, the City Council Representative for South Mahchangolhi constituency, Ahmed Zameer, said that when the Lonuziyaarai Park opens, Mayor Shifa Mohamed will host a special press conference.

The park that began development in February 2019, was initially set to open in July 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Developed with large trees and flower plants includes a bridge, a rest area and an exercise area along with bicycle lanes.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent a case to the Prosecutor General’s Office to indict Mayor Shifa for contracting the development of the toilet rows at the park to Ameen Construction without a bid process,

However, over a month has passed and a decision is yet to be announced regarding the indictment.
