Department of Judicial Administration has said that the Supreme Court has no obstruction to take action against the Chairperson of the Commission formed to investigate unsolved deaths, Husnu Suood.
Speaking at an ongoing press conference by the Department of Judicial Administration, the Chancellor of the Judicial Academy, Ahmed Maajid, said that the Commission had refused to comply with the Supreme Court's request for more details regarding the allegations made by Husnu Sood on 30 December.
He said that with the Commission refusing the request to provide more information regarding the allegations against the Criminal Court before 6 January, it has to be believed that Suood made the comments without integrity.
Maajid said that refusing to cooperate with the Court, the comments have to be deemed without merit and an attempt to create dissension among the people in regards to the Judicial System. And such cases will be investigated under the regulations and appropriate action will be taken.
The Judicial Academy Chancellor said that while a process exists to look into matters concerning judges, taking the comments public without sharing with the DJA is an attempt of slander against the courts.
Last December, Chairperson of the Commission, Suood, stated that the judges at the Criminal Court are connected to gangs and the court is heavily influenced by the gangs.
