Defence Minister, Mariya Ahmed Didi has said that the Maldivian people’s trust today with their military has increased.

In her Victory Day address, Minister Mariya said that 3 November 1988 marks a dark charter in Maldivian history as an unprovoked attack took the lives of 19 locals and injured many.

She said that the training and resources at the time of the 3 November attack was very different compared today and the courage and bravery displayed by the military and the Maldivian people are praise worthy.

The Defence Minister also noted that the assistance from India and expressed gratitude for their aid.

Minister Mariya said that the government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has made it a priority to increase the capabilities of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and today, it has increased many folds and the public trust with the MNDF has increased.
