An art campaign is set to be held in the Maldives to advocate for violence against women in the country.

Ooredoo Maldives said that the campaign, “Art for Action” is being held in cooperation with Family Legal Clinic and UNDP Maldives as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.

The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness, stop the violence against women and gain justice for those who survive it. Ooredoo said that they also aim to empower and express the hopes and for the protection of women and children.

Submissions to the campaign need to be submitted before 14 November, according to the company, and is open for people of the age 16 and above.

The drawings are required to highlight one of the three topic:

  • Justice – How to find justice for the survivors as a community
  • Empowerment – Empowering the survivors by showing empathy and providing assistance as friends and family
  • Hope – The hopes for the societal protection for women and children

Ooredoo Maldives said that 16 pieces of art will be selected by a panel that consists of officials from Ooredoo, Family Legal Clinic and UNDP Maldives and will be showcases on the social media sites of the three companies from 25 November to 10 December. The artworks will also be highlighted on the Ooredoo LED boards.
