Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has said that the biggest lesson from COVID-19 is that countries cannot move forward without working together.

Speaking during a press briefing after official talks with the US and the Maldives, Minister Shahid said that COVID has changed the global system and that there is no country that has not been affected by the disruption. He added that even the Maldives has had to face several challenges due to the pandemic.

Noting the reopening of the Maldives for tourism, Minister Shahid said that the Maldives has now become a tourism safe country with the help of many countries, of which the US is a part of. He added that the US has been helping in many ways towards economic recovery.

He further added that developments are being re-evaluated due to the pandemic, and that the goal is now towards more important projects.
