Maldives and the USA has decided to open embassies in the respective countries.

The President’s Office announced the decision after the US State Secretary, Mike Pompeo’s meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Currently, the US Embassy serving the Maldives is in Colombo, Sri Lanka. And the USA does not have a Maldivian Embassy.

The President’s Office said that a Maldivian Embassy in the US will greatly benefit the Maldivians going to the US as further opportunities will open and strengthen the relations between the two countries. The President’s Office also noted that this marks an achievement of an international goal.
