The motion to remove member of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) did not pass through the Parliament Committee for Independent Institutes before sending it to Parliament floor.

The move against the ACC members was proposed by MP for Inguraidhoo Hassan Ahmed during the committee meeting held today. West Galolhu MP, Meekail Naseem seconded the move. A second proposal was also put forward during the same meeting.

This was to present ACC members to the committee to question them regarding the resource difficulties and challenges that they face during investigations. This was proposed by West Henveiru MP Hussain Shameem and was seconded by Villimale' MP Ahmed Usham.

A vote for the first proposal for the dismissal of ACC members was asked, which did not pass. The second proposal to present the ACC members to the committee had passed upon calling for a vote.

MDP lawmakers pushed for the removal of ACC members by saying that their work was not satisfactory in terms of the Ventilator Case and MMPRC scandal.
