President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that the youth must be provided with a say in deciding the future of the community.

The President made the remark on Twitter sending best wishes to young people across the Maldives on National Youth Day.

In his tweet, President Solih said that the youth are the drivers of our nation and said that “our duty is to unlock their full potential by providing them opportunities and including their say in deciding the future of our community.”

National Youth Day is usually celebrated on 17 November but the President has decided to move the Youth Day to 22 October.

The first National Youth Day was celebrated in the Maldives on 1 March 1992. Since then, the day has been celebrated in the country on the International Youth Day on 12 August as well.
