Schools in the Male’ Area have resume classes for Grade 8 today.

While Grade 8 has started today at the schools, Ministry of Education has decided and announced that classes are set to resume for students in Grade 7 on 25 October. On Saturday, the State Minister at the Education Ministry, Dr. Abdul Rasheed said that it is unlikely that classes can return to schools this year for the Grades 6 and below.

The Grades 9. 10, 11, and 12 resumed classes in schools on 4 October.

After the schools were initially closed on 12 March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, classes were taken online. When the number of cases dropped in July, the Ministry resumed classes for the grades 9 and above but the schools were closed again on 9 August amid the spike in cases.
