Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent the case to the Prosecutor General’s Office to press charges against the Health Minister, Abdulla Ameen, in connection to the ventilators.

An investigation was launched after an audit report revealed misinformation and false information in the acquisition of ventilators by the Health Ministry through Dubai’s Executors General Trading amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ACC said that cases sent for prosecution include those against the member so the Bid Committee.

The list of people being indicted in connection to the ventilator case:

  • Minister Health, Abdulla Ameen
  • Deputy Minister, Nishaama Mohamed
  • Deputy Minister, Shiyaama Mohamed
  • Director, Naushad Ali
  • Director (Finance Executive), Ahmed Aslam
  • Deputy Director General, Abdulla Shareef
  • Assistant Director Fathimath Limya
  • Assistant Director, Abdulla Hafeez
  • Legal Officer, Ali Shiham
  • Assistant Administrative Officer, Hussain Niyaz
  • Bid Committee Member, Aminath Shaufa

ACC said that this is one of the largest cases investigated by the commission. But it also one of the fastest cases to have the investigation completed.

The investigating team on the case acquired information and documents from eight different institutes including government bodies.

ACC said that the team examined and analyzed a total of 1,600 documents and 500 email backups along with the bank statements of numerous people close to the case. They also took statements from 36 individuals.

It is a case being investigated by the Parliament’s Finance Committee as well.
