A fire incident at a residential house in Thaa Atoll Guraidhoo has burned down the place beyond use.
Vice President of the Guraidhoo Island Council, Thaufeeq Ali told Online Onlin today that the fire was reported at 11:45 a.m. today and at the time, a number of people were at the Friday Prayer but the police some members of the public extinguished the fire.
Councilman Thaufeeq said that at the time of the fire, the occupants of the house, a mother and her child were not at home. And while no one was injured in the incident, the house has only the four walls and roof standing.
Thaufeeq said that the child who lives at the house is a school student and the fire has destroyed their books and uniforms while the total damage from the fire would total up to MVR 1.3 million.
While the cause of the fire is unclear at this time, the residents of the house have now been moved to a relative’s house.
