Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has introduced online services to allow payment of work visa online.
The Minister for Communications, Science and Technology, Mr. Mohamed Maleeh Jamal officially inaugurated the online payment services today at an event held at the Tax Academy of Maldives.
MIRA reports that the tax authority has been working towards introducing online services to conduct visa processes and that the online payment service for work visa, introduced today is a great step forward.
Speaking at the event today, the Commissioner General of Taxation, Mr. Yazeed Mohamed said that MIRA is working towards ensuring that services rendered by the authority are provided with ease.
"While numerous people submit fees, a service that allows the payment of work visa fee online, has not been established previously" Yazeed said.
MIRA began accepting submissions of work visa fee as of 21st June 2011 and have collected $304 million as of the previous year.
