Previous head of the investigative team looking into the explosion aboard vessel 'Finifen maa', Mr. Umar Naseer said that it is only now that former Spokesperson to President Yameen Ibrahim Muaz Ali possibly does not see fire, following the explosion.

Umar Naseer was lead investigator of an explosion aboard 'Finifen maa' vessel as former President Abdulla Yameen made his way from Hulhule' to Male'. Former spokesperson to President Yameen, Mr. Ibrahim Muaz Ali has claimed that the video shown to the press by the then Office of the President is edited and said that there was no presence of fire in the original unedited video. Umar Naseer claims that the words of Ibrahim Muaz Ali are not truly his at this time.

In an interview given to One Online, the former Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Umar Naseer said that he believes that Muaz's allegations are coming from 'another source' at this time and that it is not unexpected that Muaz is currently unable to 'see' certain things that he was able to see previously, regarding the explosion.

"Right now, that is not Muaz who is speaking, that is money speaking. The money from MMPRC" Umar said.

Umar Naseer has said that the explosion aboard the vessel carrying President Yameen was one of the most powerful type of explosives and that the fire generated by such as explosion is quick to vanish; lasting approximately 1/10th of a second. Umar said that it is most likely that the eye was not able to capture the presence of fire in such a short span of time.

Umar has further reiterated that the video is footage captured by a video camera of the then Office of the President and that the investigative team at the time had sought footage from privately owned media. He said however, the journalists of private media companies that were present at the incident had not begun recording at that time due to the vessel not yet having made landfall when the explosion occurred.

"The stills and video camera staff of the President (Abdulla Yameen) were always documenting the movements of the President. The degree to which camera-documenting takes place in Maldives is slightly less. For instance, in the United States, every movement (of the President) is captured from the moment the President leaves a room, to the moment where he enters it." Umar said. "You never know when there may be an incident or an attack on the President. As such, President Yameen's videographer was recording footage even before the vessel made neared landfall. That is why the video was captured (by the camera of the Office of the President)".

Ibrahim Muaz Ali, who had worked closely with President Yameen and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim held a press conference and indicated that President Yameen had been previously aware of the impending explosion aboard 'Finifen maa" vessel. Muaz has also implied that the then Vice President of Maldives, Mr. Ahmed Adeeb had no part in the incident.

Muaz has also announced his resignation as a member of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) at the press conference. Muaz has been unreachable for a comment following claims made by Umar Naseer.
