Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb who was in jail for seven charges relating to the massive MMPRC Corruption Scandal, has been transferred to House Arrest.

State had pressed charges against him last Thursday at the Criminal Court .

The charges were submitted for a second time after the High Court, during an appeal procedure, ordered the Criminal Court to reopen the trial having dropped all charges against Adeeb previously.

During this time, the state had moved for an order to keep Adeeb under custody for the duration of the trial .

Media Official for Maldives Correctional Service revealed to "One Online" that Adeeb has been transferred to house arrest today. The media official added that he was transferred to house arrest due to his health conditions, under a permit from the court.

During Wednesday's trial hearing Adeeb had pleaded guilty to all seven charges, under a plea deal that the state had offered. Under the deal, his sentencing will see significant leniency in return for his cooperation.
