A man in home quarantine at Haa Alifu Atoll Kelaa has tested positive for COVID-19.

Talking to One Online, an official from the Kelaa Island Council said that the person who confirmed after 14 days in quarantine was an expatriate worker.

The official said that the person who in quarantine with five others but they all tested negative on the sample before being released from home quarantine.

A COVID-19 case was found on the island previously as well on 11 September 2020 while a 58-year-old man from the island has passed away due to complications with the illness.

So far, 34 COVID-related deaths have been reported in the Maldives.
