FlyDubai to resume flights to Maldives

Emirates budget airline, FlyDubai, is set to resume flights to the Maldives.

FlyDubai initially began their flight operation in the Maldives in January 2013 but was discontinued in 2018.

News outlets in UAE has reported that according to FlyDubai, their flight operations to the Maldives will begin on 27 October with four flights a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Maldivian borders were closed on 27 March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened on 15 July and has seen 13,000 tourists visiting the country with the highest number of tourists arriving from UAE with over 2,400 tourists.

While FlyDubai is set to resume flights to the Maldives, the Switzerland-based leisure airline, Edelweiss Air, is also set to begin direct flights between Zurich and Velana International Airport (VIA) on 26 September.
