President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Tuesday forwarded the names of applicants for the vacant position on the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), to the Parliament for consideration.
The President’s Office had earlier made an announcement inviting applications to fill one vacant seat on the Commission, following the dismissal of a HRCM member on 22nd July 2020.
Several seats of the commission were left vacant after three of its members had tendered their resignation while the term of another member comes to an end on September 12th.
Parliament had also decided to dismiss the Commission's Vice President, Mohamed Zahid on July 22nd. Before that, President Aminath Enas along with members Moosa Ali Kaleyfaan and Aishath Afreen had resigned as well.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had also appointed three new members to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives last Tuesday: Aminath Shifaath Abdul Razzaq, Moomina Waheed and Dr Ahmed Adham Abdulla.
Remaining member, Naiveen Abdulla's term also comes to an end soon hence applications for that has also been opened.
