Landing craft traveling with large amount of cargo crash on reef

A landing craft traveling with seven people, an excavator and large number of other cargo has crashed on a reef.

MNDF Coast Guard said that at the time of the incident, there were three locals and four foreigners on board and no one was injured in the incident.

The 140-foot vessel named “Heavy Star” was traveling from Male’ City to Kulhudhuffushi City in Haa Dhaalu Atoll when it crashed on the reef of Shaviyani Atoll Narudhoo.

MNDF said that a report came in at 1:15 a.m. last night that the landing craft was taking in water and the Coast Guard was mobilized to respond immediately.
