Three people have tested positive for COVID-19 at Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo while in home quarantine on the island.

The Vice President of the Dhidhdhoo Island Council, Mohamed Haashim has confirmed this to One Online.

Speaking on the development, the Acting Head of the Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital in Dhidhdhoo, Mohamed Rasheed told One Online that the three people belong to the same family and the Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed their test results last night.

He said that three who tested positive have not shown any symptoms of the illness and they are a four-year-old child along with a man and a woman between the ages of 30 and 50.

The Health of the Atoll Hospital said that contact tracing is underway to verify if they came in contact with anyone on the island.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives have risen to 8,486 with 5,822 recoveries.
