The National Security Committee meeting with MNDF and the Maldives Police Service regarding the fire incident at Café Tiolo in Male’ City on Friday night.
Aside from MNDF and the Police, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was also set to attend the meeting at 10 a.m. today.
The meeting was decided to be held behind closed doors after the security forces made the request saying that the information shared could go to different direction.
At the request, the Chairperson of the committee, the MP for Maradhoo constituency, Ibrahim Shareef accepted the request saying that due to the nature of the case, the concerns are legitimate.
While the fire on Friday night completely destroyed the café, the flames reached high and affected multiple floors of the adjacent Gadhage Mohamedfulhu Building where State Bank of India and Ooredoo Maldives have their offices.
As the National Security Committee investigates the fire, the MP for South Henveiru constituency, Hussain Shaheem has said that the fire could be an act of terrorism.
