Dinghy traveling to Kinolhas goes missing, the vessel has now been found

MNDF has started a search and rescue operation after a dinghy traveling in the Raa Atoll from InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort Hotel to Kinolhas has goes missing.

MNDF said that the 15-foot dinghy was traveling with two people on board and was reported missing at 10:45 a.m. this morning. The Northern Area Coast Guard has been deployed to search for the vessel.

There are no inhabited islands between Kinolhas and the resort aside from Huruvalhi Resort and two lagoons of the uninhabited islands Vilingili and Vaadhoo.

The missing vessel has been found.

The vessel arrived at Kinolhas around 12:13 p.m. today.

President of the Kinolhas Island Council, Ahmed Hussain told One Online that the people who went on the dinghy goes fishing before dawn and usually return before 9 a.m. However, today, they waited out at sea because the fishing was poor.

Councilman Hussain said that according to the people who were on the dinghy, the phone coverage was poor in the area and went towards the resort.
