MP for Meedhoo constituency, Rozaina Adam has accused the opposition party PPM of trying to spread COVID-19 across the country.

Taking to Twitter last night, MP Rozaina said that PPM needs to put an immediate stop to their efforts to spread COVID-19 in the country and should not be allowed to throw the country into an epidemic for political gain.

The Meedhoo MP has made the allegations after some media outlets have reported that the person who tested positive in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo took part in the PPM protest on Friday. However, PPM have denied the allegations.

Last night, the Spokesperson of the Progressive Coalition, Heena Waleedh, said that the person who tested positive in Thinadhoo did not take part in Friday’s protest according to the Thinadhoo Team and the protest in Thinadhoo, too, was carried out within the Health Protection Agency (HPA) guidelines with masks and social distancing.

After the person tested positve for COVID-19, the island has now been placed under monitoring.

The opposition held protests in numerous island across the country on Friday including a motorcycle ride in Male’ City.
