A building opposite to the King Salman Mosque on Boduthakurufaanu Magu has caught fire.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has said that they are working to evacuate the buildings near to the building that is on fire.

A journalist of "One" on site reported that the fire broke out at a cafe, the adjacent building houses State Bank of India along with Ooreedoo Maldives offices. The fire has since spread to the top floor of that building as well.

Fire fighters are now on scene to extinguish the fire.
