Heritage Minister Yumna Maumoon has stated that her father, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's health is improving as he is currently admitted after testing positive for COVID-19.

"Insha Allah my father Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's health is improving. My mother is doing well too. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. For me its home quarantine for 14 days," Yumna tweeted.

The 83-year-old former President revealed that he had tested positive for the virus last Tuesday, and is currently being treated at Dharumavantha Hospital.

Last Wednesday, President Maumoon had also assured everyone that he is feeling reasonably well and had thanked all friends and well-wishers for their prayers.

Many had expressed their concerns for the former President once the news was announced, and are wishing for a speedy recovery. As such, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had also wished him well.
