The Auditor General's Office has concluded that the COVID-19 related spending by Tourism Ministry was in line with the government's fiscal policies as well as the rules and regulations stipulated by the Finance Ministry.

The compliance report regarding the Tourism Ministry's COVID-19 spending noted that the ministry spent on four major sectors. These are financial support to Maldivians abroad; repatriation costs of Maldivian medical students studying abroad along with Maldivians in foreign countries as well as the expenses of Maldivian missions in several countries.

As per the audit report, the total spending by the Tourism Ministry sums up to MVR 7.2 million. All details of these expenses are included in the audit report.

The report highlighted that the spending stated in the report was in line with the necessary rules and regulations.
