Two Thalassemia patients among the COVID-19 victims in the Maldives have recovered from COVID-19.
Talking on PSM, the Associate Specialist in Pediatrics at the Maldives Blood Service, Dr. Ahmed Umaru said that so far two young Thalassemia patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
Dr. Umaru said that while they recovered, none of them had any symptoms of the illness.
Thalassemia patients are among the high-risk group for COVID-19 along with children under the age of five, people over the age of 60 and pregnant women.
There has been a recent spike in the number of cases in the Maldives with 146 people testing positive in the past 24 hours raising the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 6,225.
