President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Wednesday forwarded the names of applicants for the vacant positions at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), for Parliamentary consideration.

The applicants were sent to the parliament for consideration since three of its members had tendered their resignation while the term of another member comes to an end on September 12th.

Parliament had also decided to dismiss the Commission's Vice President, Mohamed Zahid on July 22nd. Before that, President Aminath Enas along with members Moosa Ali Kaleyfaan and Aishath Afreen had resigned as well.

Naiveen Abdulla is the only remaining member of the commission.
