Political party, DRP, has decided to work with the Progressive Coalition that consists of PPM and PNC.
The Leader of DPR and MP for Kaashidhoo constituency, Abdulla Jabir has confirmed this to One Online.
In a phone interview with One Online, MP Jabir said that a decision was made as the opposition parties to work together to hold the government accountable at a high-level meeting between DRP, PPM and PNC.
Jabir said that despite this agreement, this is not a coalition but they would be working together in and outside the parliament on the issues both sides agree with.
The Leader of the DRP said that when all three parties start working together, there are about 11 opposition MPs in the parliament; which is enough to take the no confidence motion to the parliament floor against the cabinet ministers.
He said that the DRP is also going to fully support the Progressive Coalition in their efforts to free the former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom from prison. Jabir said that the former President was imprisoned illegally and his trial was not legitimate.
MP Jabir said that the DRP and the Progressive Coalition will be working together in the future for the rights of the people and noted that they are ready to take it to the streets.
