Maldives on Tuesday reported the 24th COVID-19 death in the country as another Maldivian passed away at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) said that today at 09:34 am a 41-year-old Maldivian female admitted at IGMH had passed away.

This marks the 24th COVID-19 death in the Maldives. Among these are nineteen Maldivians and five foreigners.

The first COVID-19 death was recorded on April 29th, who was an 83-year-old woman. With the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, the number of deaths has been slowly increasing too.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives is now 5,909.
