A 59-year-old man has been arrested for sexual abuse of a child.

Maldives Police Service confirmed that a 59-year-old Maldivian man was arrested under a court order.

Police said that reports of the incident were received by their North Central Police Division yesterday and upon presenting the arrested to the court, ordered to remand the individual in custody for 15 days.

Police is currently investigating the case further.
