Maldives Immigration has revealed that 5,177 tourist arrivals have been recorded since the border reopening back in July.

The border officially reopened on July 15th and Maldives started welcoming tourists the same day. Over 100 tourists arrivals recorded on that day, from 32 countries.

In a tweet on Sunday, Maldives Immigration revealed that 5,177 tourist arrivals were recorded from July 15th till August 15th.

Their statistics show that the United States and United Kingdom remain as the top countries for tourist arrivals since border reopening. As such 679 tourists arrived from the UK while 525 arrivals from the US were recorded.

The government is aiming for 850,000 tourist arrivals by the end of 2020. There are over 150 resorts in the Maldives in operation, though only a handful of them had reopened.
