The person who was injured in the fire incident at the Seaplane Fuel Storage at the Velana International Airport (VIA) last week has passed away.

An official of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has confirmed to One Online that the person injured was an employee of MACL.

The fire incident took place last week at 6 p.m. on Monday evening.

MACL however did not provide any further details of the fire that broke out at VIA. On the day of the incident, MACL did confirm that an investigation into the fire has been launched.

The injured patient was treated at the ICU in state-run IGMH. The 46-year-old man had 83 percent of his body burnt during the incident.
