Vice President of PPM and MP for Naifaru constituency, Ahmed Shiyam has said that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is a branch of the main coalition party, MDP.

Talking to SanguTV’s “Khabarahfahu” program last night, MP Shiyam said that the composition of JSC needs to be changed and as it is now, it is not a fair institution.

He said that the main talking point of the current government before taking power was to reform the judicial system but almost two years with super majority at the parliament, there have been no efforts toward that goal.

Shiyam said that the government is hesitant to change the composition of the JSC.

He said that the government believes the JSC is an independent body that does not have any political influence but the President of the JSC is a political figure and the majority of the JSC members are also members of MDP.

There are ten members on the JSC that consists of the Speaker of the Parliament, a MP, an appointee by the President and the Attorney General.
