Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that a 38-year-old man in home quarantine at Baa Atoll Kamadhoo has tested positive for COVID-19.

He traveled to the island on 30 July and was confirmed positive when the pre-release sample collected came back positive. This is the second case of COVID-19 on the island.

HPA also confirmed today that a foreigner in home quarantine in Addu City tested positive as well making it the second case in Addu City within the past 24 hours.

COVID-19 has seen in 13 islands in the Maldives according to HPA. They are Addu City Feydhoo, H.A. Kelaa, H.A. Higavandhoo, H.A. Filladhoo, H.Dh. Naavaidhoo, B. Kudarikilu, B. Kamadhoo, R. Inguraidhoo, R. Hulhuduffaaru, Lh. Hinnavaru, K. Maafushi, V. Fulidhoo and Fuvahmulah City.

While the number of cases in home quarantine begins to rise, travel between the islands have been restricted to medical emergencies, people currently in Male’ to consult a doctor, official travel, those traveling due to loss of or to new employment and those who needs to appear in court.
