A Maldivian in home quarantine at Vaavu Atoll Fulidhoo.

President of the Fulidhoo Island Council, Sanaa Ali Waafir told One Online that the 20-year-old woman arrived at the island on 14 July and quarantined herself at a guesthouse on the island. And she was confirmed positive today when the result of the pre-release sample before releasing from quarantine, taken on 28 July, came back positive.

The Council President said that nine others went in to quarantine on the same day and all others tested negative. And the person who tested positive did not come in to contact with anyone else.

While the number of cases among people returning to their island for quarantine continue to rise, this is the first reported case of COVID-19 in Fulidhoo. Today, man in quarantine at Lhaviyani Atoll Hinnavaru tested positive as well.
