A Maldivian in home quarantine at Lhaviyani Atoll Hinnavaru.

Deputy Director General of the Health Ministry, Thasleema Usman confirmed to One Online that a 30-year-old local man has been confirmed positive for the illness in Hinnavaru after the samples taken before ending his home quarantine tested positive.

Vice President of the Hinnavaru Island Council, Mohamed Solih, told One Online that the man went in to quarantine on 15 July and the man arrived on the island on a speed boat with another group of people.

Solih said that the man was in quarantine separately and the people who traveled with him tested negative.
