A child at the Vilimale’ orphanage has tested positive for COVID-19.

State Minister at the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services, Zifleen Hassan has confirmed to One Online that further information on the situation will be given soon.

One Online has learned that the child who tested positive at the orphanage is a boy between the ages of 10 and 12. And he was confirmed positive last night.

The child was quarantined upon returning from India. He went to India for medical treatment and returned on 30 June and so the child has tested positive 19 days after returning.

Sources have told One Online that four employees who travelled with the child along with a medical staff and two others have been quarantined as well. It has not been confirmed if the orphanage itself has been brought under a state of quarantine monitoring.

Sources have told One Online that the child who tested positive is an ill child that cannot walk and is kept separately at the orphanage.
