Director of Communication at the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, Ahmed Fazeel has been suspended following allegations of sexual harassment at the workplace.

Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh, said that Fazeel is under investigation by the President’s Office for serious accusations of sexual abuse.

A number of allegations of sexual abuse and by the Communications Director has hit social media recently including that of child sexual abuse, sexual harassment of co-workers. A number of related screenshots have circulated on popular social media sites.

While Fazeel faces major allegations, his politically affiliated party, Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has launched an investigation as well as he is currently part of the government on an MRM slot. MRM said that Fazeel has been suspended from party activities until the end of the investigation.

Spokesperson for the President, Hoodh told One Online that Fazeel was suspended and informed of the decision yesterday.
