Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail has said that the Maldivian tourism is the safest tourism in the world and tourists can visit the Maldives without any hesitation.

At a special ceremony this morning at Velana International Airport, the first flight landed at 8:26 a.m. in the Maldives, was an A350 flight operated by Qatar Airways which received a water salute. The first after reopening, a flight of Qatar Airways, arrived in the Maldives with 127 passengers this morning at 8:26 a.m. this morning. The passengers include 103 tourists, all from European countries.

Talking to the press after the welcoming ceremony, the Acting Head of the Tourism Ministry, the Minister for Economic Development, Fayyaaz Ismail said that Maldives is the safest destination for tourism due to the formation of the country.

He said that the Maldives had a strong fight with the COVID-19 epidemic and now the country has good testing facilities and backup facilities.

Minister Fayyaaz said that he is inviting all tourists to visit and rediscover the sunny side of life and the Maldives has the best system to ensure the safety of the tourists.

The Acting Head of the Tourism Ministry said that they are working to bring in more tourists to the country through discussions with top tourism markets in consideration with the threat of COVID-19 and their precautions.

And so, as the precautionary measures strengthen, the Maldives will be advertised as the safest tourist destination.

As the Maldivian borders reopen today, two tourist flights are set to arrive today. The government has previously said that 11 airlines including major airlines in the world, have booked slots start flight operations to the Maldives.

The Tourism Ministry has said that 38 tourist resorts will be resuming operations with 7,655 beds. However, most resorts will be opening next month and the months that follow.
