Three of the four members of the National Integrity Commission (NIC) has resigned after the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions recommended the President to dismiss them.
The President’s Office said that NIC’s Vice President Hassaan Hameed along with members Ahmed Ameen and Khadheeja Abdulla had submitted their resignation on Thursday.
While the three of them resigned last Thursday, Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions found the three, along with NIC president Ahmed Sulaiman, had failed to uphold their responsibilities and voted in favor of recommending the President to dismiss all four members last Wednesday.
The only remaining member of the five-member commission is Colonel (Retired) Ahmed Jihad, who was appointed by the current administration.
The appointment and dismissal of NIC members lies with the President.
