High Court on Wednesday ordered the state to facilitate meetings between Former President Abdulla Yameen and his legal team before dismissing the appeal hearing today.

The hearing held today at the High Court is the second hearing of the appeal by President Yameen.

Speaking during the hearing, his attorney Dr. Mohamed Jameel said that in the evidence provided by the state failed to prove that President Yameen had committed a crime since the ACC report nor the Auditor General's report levied any allegations of corruption on President Yameen himself.

He also said that the testimonies of Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, Former ACC President Muavviz Rasheed, and Former Managing Director of MMPRC Abdulla Ziyath could not be taken into account. He stressed that Muavviz had also lied during his testimony.

Dr. Jameel highlighted that while Muavviz had claimed that he had met with President Yameen at the President's Office regarding the MMPRC money, President Yameen and Former President of ACC Hassan Latheef had both said that such a meeting never happened and no proof was available from either party to prove the existence of the said meeting.

The public prosecutor noted that the case against President Yameen was built based on the STR filed with the Police by central bank, MMA. The prosecution added that the case had no relation to the investigation conducted by the ACC.

As the hearing came to an end, President Yameen had requested to meet with his legal team in person and noted that they get to speak for 10 minutes and that face to face meetings are rare.

Today's hearing ended with the court ordering the state to facilitate these meetings between President Yameen's legal team.
