Police officer injured amid confrontations with migrant workers during hostage situation

A police officer has been injured during confrontations that erupted with migrant workers, who were holding Maldivian employees hostage at the B. Bodufinolhu resort construction site.

Police revealed that they have been active after reports that expatriate workers in a resort being developed had been holding Maldivian employees hostage in the island. They added that one of the officers who were trying to control the confrontation had been injured and that he is being treated at Baa Atoll Hospital.

While confrontations between expat and local workers at the resort had been ongoing, some people from Baa Atoll Thulhadhoo had also joined in on the confrontation.
