Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has said that despite the FAM election being set to take place today, the time and the place for the vote is not yet finalized.

The First Division clubs have confirmed to One Online that the FAM has informed the clubs of the election set to take place today with the clubs saying that according to the letter from the FAM, the election will be held at 4 p.m. today at their office. And the congress will take place within the guidelines of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

A week ago, the President of FAM, Bassam Adheel Jaleel also said that the election will be held today.

While the election has been set for today, the former President of FAM and current MP for Mid-Henveiru constituency, Ali Azim, has called on the Sports Commissioner and the Youth Ministry with a resolution to the parliament to stop the election and take action against the association. His resolution requests that the issues within the FAM be resolved before the election could take place.

Following the resolution at the parliament, yesterday, the international governing body of football, FIFA has warned that the Maldives would be suspended if the FAM election is being influenced by politics.

So far there have been no comment on the situation by the Sports Commission nor the Ministry of Sports.
