Former President and President of the MRM, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that it is against the government’s policy for anyone to do things in a way that creates the path for corruption.
Taking to Twitter today, the former President, who is also the head of one of the political parties in the government coalition, said that it is not acceptable for anyone to decide on something in a way that could lead to corruption and the government has a zero tolerance policy for such things.
While the former President has made such a statement, there have been a recent surge of rumors in the public alleging the authority of various high-ranking members of the government influencing the Maldives Police Service.
Some accusations has alleged that some MPs and high-ranking officers in the police are abusing their authority.
And following the allegations of corruption against the government amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked the public to report such things.
