A rally has started growing in front of the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services protesting against the rise in rape and sexual assault crimes.

The rally was organized by the public run 'Voice of Children' and was staged in front of the Gender Ministry at 1600 hours.

The rally focused on the delay in justice for rape survivors, with participants expressing anger and frustration about the lack of action regarding rape cases in the Maldives. They also called for justice for the recent safari rape case survivor.

Many of them had raised questions on who was to be held accountable for the inaction and demanded justice and for the police to fulfil their responsibilities in such cases.

This week, a case of a father abusing his 13-year-old daughter and the safari rape case have been reported.
